JIYU Theatre: About the Theatre

JIYU Theatre is a small theater owned by the Shiki Theatre with a seating capacity of around 500 people. It was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shiki’s establishment, and it mainly showcases traditional plays. However, the theater has expanded its offerings to include various other programs, including family-friendly musicals.

Cloakroom/Lockers

Large items that cannot be brought into the auditorium, such as carry-on cases and baby strollers, will be checked at the Information Desk. Note that clothing and umbrellas cannot be checked in, so bring them to the seating area.

Restrooms

Women’s restrooms are on the 1st floor, and men’s are in the lobby on the 2nd floor. Two baby carriers are located in the women’s restrooms.

Food and Beverages

Vending machines are located in the lobby on the 1st floor. If you wish to bring beverages into the auditorium, please bring only beverages in plastic bottles or other containers with caps. Eating in the auditorium is not permitted. Eat in the lobby.

Rental

Seat cushions are available for children under 130 cm in height. Depending on your child’s height and seat position, we will lend you the most suitable seat cushion.

Parent-Child Theater Room

Use the parent-child theater room if your child raises their voice during the performance. The room is not entirely soundproofed, so if your child cries or your voice echoes, please watch the play on a monitor in the lobby.

Accessibility

Watching a show in a wheelchair

If you have a handicap or use a wheelchair, etc., staff can take you to your seat. Consult the theater staff. For wheelchair users, call the Inquiry Navidial (+81-570-008-110) before making a reservation.

Accessible restroom

There is one multi-purpose restroom on the first floor of the lobby for wheelchair users, guests with disabilities, and guests with small children. Note that the room has no diaper-changing table or baby keeper.

Ticket Reservations Child Development Center

The Shiki Theatre Company offers a babysitting service for children (for a fee; discounts are available for members of the “Shiki no Kai”). Babysitters will take good care of your children so that you can enjoy the show at your leisure.
